Lego unveils first Pokémon sets, and one costs nearly $1,000

Lego has pulled back the curtain on its highly anticipated Pokémon sets.

Launching on February 27, the three products are based on the first generation of the iconic monster-catching series. All of them have various points of articulation, so you can pose them in different ways.

First, there’s the 587-piece Eevee set, which costs $84.99 and is over 7.5 inches (19cm) tall.

Following that is the 2050-piece Pikachu set for $269.99. It measures in at over 13.5 inches (35cm) in height and includes a Pokéball and an electrified base.

But the kicker is the third and final one, which is the 6,838-piece Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise set for a whopping $899.99. It includes an elemental-themed base and a stand for Charizard to fly above the other two starter Pokémon evolutions, resulting in a total height of over 20 inches (50cm).

All three sets are available for pre-order now via the above links ahead of their late February launch. It should be noted that Lego confirmed last year that it had signed a “multi-year” deal with The Pokémon Company, so expect additional sets after these three have been released.
