Prime Video has confirmed that the fifth and final season of The Boys will premiere on April 8, 2026.
The date was confirmed in the first trailer for the hit superhero show’s swan song, which was dropped at the CCXP event in Brazil over the weekend.
The teaser trailer certainly has a heavy air of finality to it, with multiple allusions to characters not making it out alive this time around. The season follows Butcher (Karl Urban), Hughie (Jack Quaid), Annie (Erin Moriarty), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capone) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) as they fight back against Homelander (Antony Starr) and Vought, who now have control over the White House.
The trailer teases their fraught alliance, especially as Butcher stands ready to unleash the supes-killing virus. We also get a tease at the return of Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy and the arrival of Jared Padalecki as a yet-to-be-confirmed character. This is part of a long-gestating Supernatural reunion between both them, Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Joe Kessler, who debuted last season) and The Boys creator Eric Kripke. All the while, the trailer shows Homelander pummelling an unseen character, suggesting one brutal death scene.
Like all other seasons of The Boys, this last one was filmed in Toronto, so it will be fun to see which familiar locations pop up this time around. It’s also been confirmed that Gen V, The Boys spin-off that films in Mississauga and other parts of Ontario, will tie into this final season of the main series. Vought Rising, a prequel spin-off featuring Ackles’ Soldier Boy and Aya Cash’s Stormfront, is also in development.
