On a recent Joe Rogan episode, Elon Musk circled back in to try and sell the host on the Cybertruck. Rogan didn’t bite, but he did ask Musk about the Tesla Roadster, and the CEO said they’re going to demo a flying version soon.
Currently, the Roadster, as it stands, was announced in 2017 for a 2020 release and has been delayed every year since then.
Musk, always the showman, when pressed if the car would actually fly, told Rogan, “Look, I think it has a shot at being the most memorable product unveil ever. This is some crazy, crazy technology we got in this car. Crazy technology. Crazy crazy.”
I think it will be tough to top the time Elon broke the Cybertruck window with a ball bearing, but hey, if it doesn’t get delayed again, and again, and again, maybe I’ll be proven wrong.
In July, Musk teased that an epic demo would be coming by the end of the year, so it seems likely these two things are linked. However, we’re running short on time for him to hit this deadline.
So far, I’m not seeing any Polymarket odds for a flying Tesla by the end of the year, but when they go up, I’ll be sure to bet against it.
Musk also added, “Is it even a car? It looks like a car. Let’s just put it this way. It’s crazier than anything James Bond. If you took all the James Bond cars and combined them, it’s crazier than that.”
This makes it a little unclear if he’s ever seen a James Bond film or if the next Tesla is going to have mini guns, ejector seats and will also be a submarine.
Anyway, I also saw this today, so I decided to throw it in.
