Samsung is really on a roll this year with the likes of the incredibly thin Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy XR headset. Of course, the company is finishing the year with a bang, revealing its long-rumoured tri-fold smartphone.
The South Korean company showed this off during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit currently being held in Korea. However, similar to the Galaxy S25 Edge and XR announcement earlier this year, Samsung didn’t let anyone touch the tri-fold, and it stayed in a glass case.
At the event, Samsung showed the tri-fold both unfolded and folded, and used an animation to show how the device folds. The animation shows that the phone folds inwards together, instead of the accordion-like fold seen on Huawei’s Mate XT.
The tri-fold doesn’t have an official name, and strangely not even a codename. However, that could potentially be because this won’t be the device that makes it to market.
“The recent showcase reflects ongoing R&D efforts, and we plan to bring this next-generation device to users within this year,” an unnamed company spokesperson told SamMobile in a statement.

I think foldables are still picking up in some places in the world, including Canada. A tri-folding device might be overwhelming for consumers.
However, I want one for myself. 😈
