Telus tempts Koodo customers ahead of Black Friday with $60/150GB, $65/200GB offers

The $65/200GB plan includes Canada/U.S./Mexico/Caribbean roaming

Telus is once again emailing some Koodo customers with special migration offers. This time around, Telus sent me an email offering two plans: a $60/150GB plan or a $65/200GB Canada/U.S./Mexico/Caribbean plan.

The $60/150GB plan includes 5G+ speeds of up to 2Gbps and unlimited use at throttled speeds beyond the 150GB allotment. The plan also includes Canada-wide calling and texting, as well as the option to finance a device.

The $65/200GB plan has all the same stuff but includes usage in Canada, the U.S., Mexico and the Caribbean, making it a solid option for frequent travellers.

The email from Telus also included a special Pixel 9 offer for $0/down and $5.20/mo financing with Telus’ Bring-It-Back program, though is is notably worse than the current offer on Telus’ website of $0 down and $0/mo financing with Bring-It-Back.

As for how the plans stack up, well, they’re better value than Telus’ current plans, though I don’t think they’re necessarily great value overall.

Telus’ closest plan based on price is the $65/100GB 5G+ plan, so going with one of the deal plans would save you $5/mo or net you double the data and built-in roaming features. Telus does have a 200GB plan with Canada/U.S./Mexico for $105/mo, but it doesn’t include Caribbean roaming like the special offer.

For my part, the deal is absolutely not worth it. My current plan is $49/mo (thanks to Koodo’s recent price hikes) for 75GB of 5G data, which I barely put a dent in each month. I won’t be paying more money for more data that I don’t need, and instead I’ll be waiting for Black Friday deals and likely switching to the cheapest Canada/U.S. plan I can find.

It’s also worth noting that this isn’t the first time Telus has emailed me a special offer to try and poach me from Koodo. Previous offers included $60/150GB and $50/100GB plans.

To get one of these plans, you’ll need to receive an email from Telus with a promo code tied to your 10-digit Koodo phone number. Then you can follow the steps to activate the plan or head into a store to do it.
