Google’s wearable technology brand announced that its new Fitbit Labs program is now open to test experimental features.
A notable feature, “insights explorer,” uses Google’s Gemini AI to understand a user’s health and wellness questions and provide personalized answers to Fitbit data sets. One example of how Insight Explorer could be used is by letting customers get explanations about how their activity affects sleep with a chart for those who need a visual explanation.
Google says Insights Explorer is the first of many labs to test experimental capabilities.
At the bottom of the Fitbit Labs blog post, there’s a disclaimer that reads:
Fitbit Labs features are available for a short time and may require Fitbit Premium. Your AI-generated responses may include inaccurate or offensive information. It is not intended to diagnose or suggest treatment of any disease or condition, and should not be used for medical advice.
To try out Fitbit Labs, you must opt-in and provide feedback. The opt-in or join a waitlist option is in the ‘You’ tab of the Fitbit app.
