Freedom now offering $10/mo Pixel 8 deal

Combined with Freedom's $35/50GB Canada/U.S./Mexico plan, this is a pretty decent offer

Shortly after Google unveiled the new Pixel 9 series, MobileSyrup reported that several Canadian carriers were running sales on the Pixel 8, offering the phone for just $5/mo. However, Freedom has now tweaked its Pixel 8 offerings and has a new deal alongside the $5/mo option.

Freedom’s $5/mo Pixel 8 deal required customers to get the carrier’s $45/mo plan (including the $5/mo Digital Discount for auto pay and a $5/mo credit for 18 months) for a total cost of $55/mo for the phone and plan.

However, as spotted by iPhone In Canada, Freedom now also offers the Pixel 8 for $10/mo financing on the $35/mo plan (after Digital Discount and 18-month credit), for a total monthly spend of $45. So while the phone technically costs more with this deal, you actually come out ahead thanks to the savings on the plan. The only way to navigate to this deal online is to click on the $5 pixel 8, and then continue as if you’re buying it. When you get to the section where you choose your plan, you can pick the $35 option, and it will automatically raise the Pixel 8’s price to $10 per month, allowing you to get this deal.

Over two years, with the $10/mo phone deal, you’ll end up spending $1,110 total, which includes the $5/mo increase for the last six months of the plan once the 18-month credit drops off. Whereas with the $5/mo Pixel 8, you’d end up spending $50/mo for 18 months and $55/mo for the last six months for a total spend of $1,230 over two years.

Ultimately, the deciding factor here becomes how much data you need each month and how much travelling you do. Both Freedom’s $35 and $45 plans offer unlimited Canada/U.S./Mexico usage and unlimited talk and text, with the main difference being data. The $35 plan includes 50GB of 5G data, while the $45 plan gets $75GB. The other benefit of the $45 plan is the 10GB of Roam Beyond data and unlimited talk and text to use in 92 international destinations. If you don’t do a lot of international travel, or if you don’t need more than 50GB of data, the $35 plan with the $10/mo Pixel 8 is a great choice. But if you do a lot of travel or are a heavy data user, the $45 plan with $5/mo Pixel 8 is still a solid option.

Considering the Pixel 8 costs $949 outright, getting the phone for just $240 ($10/mo for 24 months) or less is pretty great. Notably, several carriers are still offering their own $5/mo Pixel 8 deals, but most don’t have plans that match the value of what Freedom has right now.
