Sony might release a ‘V2’ DualSense PS5 controller with better battery life soon

The V2 DualSense reportedly offers 12-hours of battery life

A now-deleted product listing has sparked speculation that Sony might have plans to unveil a new DualSense controller shortly.

The listing, which was removed by Best Buy Canada, showed a “PlayStation 5 V2 DualSense Wireless Controller” in ‘White’ with the same price as the original DualSense gamepad: $89.99.

Sony has not officially announced a “V2” version of its PS5 DualSense controller.

The description of the V2 DualSense indicates no design differences from the regular DualSense. However, it was listed as offering 12 hours of battery life on a full charge (this is an upgrade over the first DualSense gamepad’s roughly six hours of battery life). Additionally, the now-deleted listing indicated that the V2 gamepad will include a “charging station” that allows for “easy click-in charging.”

Considering that the current DualSense has been criticized for its poor battery life, the V2 version seems to offer a substantial improvement.

It’s currently unclear if the DualSense V2 is a product Sony plans to announce soon.

In late 2023, Walmart Canada listed the PlayStation 5 Slim. At the time, Sony had announced that the PS5 Slim would only debut in the United States, with a global rollout scheduled for a few months later.

However, Walmart’s listing wasn’t an error, and on Black Friday, the retailer sold the PS5 Slim in Canada alongside several other retailers.

Update 13/02/2024: The story has been updated with additional information.
