Apple Care+ has always been a pretty solid offer, but Apple just made it a whole lot better. An update to the company’s AppleCare+ website spotted by MacRumors gives customers up to two accidental damage coverage incidents every 12 months.
That’s a significant change — previously, AppleCare+ offered two coverage incidents every 24 months. The change effectively doubles the amount of accidental damage protection customers get with a typical AppleCare+ plan (which lasts two years).
Further, the change happened in Canada too, with the Canadian AppleCare+ website reflecting the new hardware coverage (you can view the old page here via the Internet Archive). In Canada, AppleCare+ lets users take advantage of up to two incidents of accidental damage protection every 12 months. Each is subject to a service fee that depends on the damage (screen or other) and device (Mac, iPad, iPhone or Watch).
The Verge also notes that it appears Apple applied the change retroactively to current AppleCare+ owners.
AppleCare+ is only available with the purchase of a new Apple device, or within 60 days of purchasing one. The cost depends on the device customers apply it to. Those interested can learn more about AppleCare+ on the company’s website.
