Issues with the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL continue to pile up, though for the most part they remain relatively minor and are confined to the 2 XL, especially in the case of the display burn-in problems surrounding the smartphone’s POLED display.
The latest report involves the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL’s camera flickering and displaying banding under LED lights. According to some users in Google’s official Pixel user community, when snapping photos or video strange lines begin to show up on the smartphone’s display.
Users in the Pixel 2’s official forum community suggest that perhaps the problem is related to AC frequency on aircrafts (the video above was shot on an airplane), as well as other forms of wireless interference. I actually encountered the issue multiple times when snapping photos at home under LED lights, though closing the camera app and reopening it briefly solved the problem.
A Google representative has escalated the issue, according to a post in the support forum, though it currently remains unclear exactly how widespread this new banding problem really is. The support specialist suggests users clear cached data related to the camera, though users have reported this does not solve the problem.
Have you run into any issues with the Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL’s camera in terms of this banding problem? Let us know in the comment section.
