Academy award-winning film Manchester by the Sea is set to hit Amazon Prime Video on March 21st, according to a recent statement from the streaming platform.
The Amazon Studios film won two Academy Awards for best actor Casey Affleck and Best Original Screenplay for Kenneth Lonergan. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards in total, including Best Picture. Affleck’s win was viewed by many as a controversial move by the Academy given the sexual harassment and verbal abuse allegations currently surrounding the actor.
Amazon Prime Video launched in Canada a few months ago and beyond the platform’s originals like Man in the High Castle and Mozart in the Jungle, content selection is not very extensive, especially when compared to its main competitor in the streaming industry, Netflix.
Prime Video is included with an Amazon Prime subscription of $79 CAD a year.
