One of the Gear VR’s most significant issues is controller support.
The device currently works with a variety of Android gamepads, but soon one of the best controllers ever will be compatible with Samsung’s low-cost VR headset.
Microsoft has decided to add Gear VR support to its Xbox One controller with the first compatible game being Microsoft’s Minecraft: Gear VR Edition. Xbox One controller compatibility with the Gear VR is coming in an update set to launch this October.
While support is initially launching with Minecraft only, Microsoft has plans to add other controller-enabled games in the future.
There is, however, one caveat: your Xbox One controller must support Bluetooth. Most older Xbox One gamepads don’t feature built-in Bluetooth functionality. To find out if your controller features Bluetooth, check out Microsoft’s support page.
