Mark August 2nd off on your calendars as Samsung has announced it will unveil its next flagship smartphone on that date. As expected, the “Next Big Thing” is the Galaxy Note 7.
On its official blog, Samsung teased some specs and features, noting the Note 7 will have “added functionality of the S Pen and large screen, the Galaxy Note 7 is a powerful instrument for achievement and self-expression, and is made for those who want to get the most from their phones – and their lives.”
As expected, the Note 7 skips right past the Note 6 branding this year. Samsung says the reason is to “unify our product portfolio… minimize confusion about the latest mobile technology… and provide full alignment with Galaxy S smartphone.”
As for specs, the Galaxy Note 7 is rumoured to feature a 5.7-inch QHD SAMOLED display, 6GB of RAM, 64GB internal storage plus microSD, 12 megapixel dual camera, 5 megapixel front-facing camera, a 3,600mAh battery, fingerprint sensor, iris scanner, IP68 water-resistance rating, and powered by a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 processor. In addition, the colour options of the Note 7 will be available in Black Onyx, Silver Titanium, and Blue Coral.
Similar to previous Galaxy Note launches, Samsung will stream the event live at 11:00am EST from New York City. We will bring you all the details and hands-on first impressions.
