What better way is there to celebrate the holidays than to download a festive watch face for your smartwatch? (We could think of a couple, but bear with us.)
There are a lot of really ugly holiday watch faces out there, both on Android Wear and Pebble, but the collection below consists of the best ones around. It’s time to get your smartwatch festivity on.
Christmas WatchFaces Pack
Enjoy a simple Christmas tree placed on a red background, candy canes, santa hats, and a collection of a few more simple holiday watch faces. This pack is priced at an affordable $1.09 on the Google Play Store, for a total of 15 different watch faces compatible with all Android Wear devices.
Pebble’s holiday watch face offerings are limited, especially when it comes to the Round. Christmas Time is the best one out there right now.
Watch Face: Christmas
Do you like wood, Christmas lights and wreaths? Then Watch Face: Christmas, priced at $1.19, is the Watch Face for you.
Purchase it and enjoy constantly flickering Christmas lights strapped directly to your wrist. The watch face’s animation is mesmerizing.
The watch face features a snow-covered tree, animated snow falling on the ground, and a tiny minute hand that continuously ticks away the time. The Watch Face’s one drawback is that the actual time is difficult to see. Snow Watch is free on the Google Play Store.
The watch face features an hour hand, a minute hand and a red background filled with abstract sketches of a tree and presents. Christmas Clock is free on the Google Play Store.
Custom Holiday Watch Face
If downloading a holiday-themed watch face isn’t for you, you can create your own custom watch face on the Apple Watch, Android Wear or Pebble.
It’s especially relevant on the Apple Watch, which doesn’t yet support third-party watch faces. By default, the Apple Watch synchronizes up to 100 photos in your Favourites album (‘Favs’ can be created by tapping the heart icon underneath a photo in the Photos app), so if you take or download a holiday-themed photo you can synchronize it to the Watch.
On Android Wear, creating a photo-based watch face is as easy as downloading an app that supports it. The best one to use is Muzei, a multi-function app that makes it easy to set a favourite photo and have it show up on an Android Wear smartwatch.
On Pebble, the Photo Watch face stores a single photo on the device itself, using a dithering technique to make it appear smooth on the limited-colour e-paper display.
