Starting on January 11, 2016, Google will require Android developers to declare whether their apps contain ads, according to a new email obtained by MobileSyrup.
Previously only a stipulation for apps submitted to the Designed for Families section of the Play Store, this new rule means that any app that serves ads as part of its regular functionality (including ads delivered via third-party ad networks, display ads, native ads and banner ads, according to the email) will soon have an “ad-supported” label appear on its Google Play page.
The email also warns that attempting to hide or misrepresent the fact that an app serves ads may lead to a suspension from the Play Store.
