BlackBerry 10.3.2 rolling out to Canadian BB10 devices

BlackBerry Classic review

Back in June, BlackBerry began rolling out a relatively minor software update to its U.S.-based BB10 users across a number of devices, including the Z10, Q10, Q5, Z30, Leap, Passport, and Classic.

Dubbed BlackBerry 10.3.2, it introduced a new look and feel, as well as Amazon Appstore support, to handsets that until then didn’t have access to the features. Many Canadians, however, received those features on BlackBerry 10.3.1, which arrived in February and continued through April.

Today, BlackBerry 10.3.2 is coming to Canadian BlackBerry 10 devices, including the Passport, Classic and Leap, which launched with BB10.3 and 10.3.1 respectively.

Despite the relatively minor update, BB 10.3.2 brings some impressive new features, including support for the newly-released Blend 1.2 suite; improved low-light camera performance, faster focus and improved face detection; and a better meeting mode in the Calendar app that suggests times based on free space in participants’ schedules.

The update is between 400MB and 1.6GB depending on the device you’re upgrading — the high-resolution BlackBerry Passport has assets four times the size of the Leap or Classic, for example —  but it should be rolling out now.

Let us know if your BB10 device has received BlackBerry 10.3.2. The company says its work on BB10.3.3 is well underway, and that should be the next release, though the date for its debut is still unclear.
