Google’s Messenger app now supports quick replies

Google’s simple-and-sweet Messenger app for Android was almost perfect.

Debuting alongside Lollipop last year, the app is a replacement for the old AOSP-based SMS app, bringing a new material design aesthetic to a very basic conceit.

To date, though, the one major missing feature was quick replies, the ability to respond to an incoming message from the notification shade without entering the app. That changes with version 1.3, giving users a nice interface on which to quickly send responses to friends and family.

The update is still rolling out to the Play Store, but if you’re in a rush you can download it from APKMirror.
