Do you have a OnePlus One that hasn’t yet received Cyanogen OS 12? Rest easy, friend: the company had to temporarily halt its initial rollout due to a missing feature.
In the initial rollout of Android 5.0.2, a crucial feature was missing: the ability to quickly search by voice with an always-listening phrase, ‘OK OnePlus’. You may be familiar with this idea, since Google’s own devices like the Nexus 5 and 6 offer this same experience, and Motorola has been asking people to say, ‘OK Moto X’ for nearly two years now.
Like those devices, the OnePlus One uses an ultra l0w-power processing unit inside the phone’s Snapdragon chip that listens for trained catchphrases and jumps into action when it is heard.
The new build, YNG1TAS17L, also fixes a few bugs related to recent security issues found inside Android, and addresses the issue of a user’s ringer and notification volumes being out of sync.
It’s possible to download the 600MB over-the-air update manually, installing it through a recovery like TWRP, or you can wait until OnePlus completes the rollout to everyone. There is even a handy web-based tracking tool to show how far along the rollout is.
