GreenP parking now accepting mobile payments

Toronto Mayor John Tory and the Toronto Parking Authority have officially ushered in a new way to pay for parking in the city. After a brief trial that started last summer, select GreenP parking locations in Toronto are now accepting mobile payments.

The GreenP app is available on iPhone and Android and allows users to pay for parking from their device. There are currently five parking lots that accept this form of payment: Isabella Street, Erindale Avenue, Richmond Street East, Parliment Street and Front Street East.

To pay with your phone, you’ll first need to sign up for an account and add your contact and credit card info. Once you arrive at one of the above parking lots, you’ll need to enter the location ID (lot number), your license plate, and the duration of your session. The app gives a 10-minute reminder before your time expires and you’ll have the option to extend your parking from your phone. Parking receipts will be sent to the email address used during sign up and GreenP does not charge a transaction fee to use the app, which will also help users locate GreenP parking lots and view their parking history.

Available for both iOS and Android, this app is certainly a positive step toward making Toronto more mobile friendly.
