The CBC is reporting that Uber is gauging interest for its UberX service in the Kitchener-Waterloo region. UberX allows regular Uber users to sign up as drivers and pick up their own passengers, and the company recently issued an open call for potential registrants.
The service, which recently launched in Toronto, has been quite popular but also a source of contention, as various municipalities work to decide if it’s legal (Uber, for its part, is hoping to rally public pressure). Currently, UberX is being used in Canada in Toronto, Ottawa, and Halifax.
