Samsung bringing metal Galaxy Alpha to Bell and Virgin on September 26th

Samsung Canada has announced Canadian launch details for the stylish metal Galaxy Alpha. Announced in mid-August, the Galaxy Alpha is one of Samsung’s slimmest devices ever. It’s also the first of Samsung’s smartphones to use a metal frame.

Samsung didn’t talk much about availability when it announced the Alpha last month, but we did hear about a UK launch scheduled for late September. Today we learned that the phone will hit both Bell and Virgin Mobile around the same time.

The device is now up for pre-order through Bell and will officially launch on September 26th. The phone is listed as a Bell-exclusive and will cost $149.95 on a two-year contract. To buy the phone outright will set you back $700. Samsung says customers will have the choice of either the black, white, or gold model, but Bell’s website currently only shows the black and white versions.

The Galaxy Alpha packs a 4.7-inch 1280×720 pixel Super AMOLED display, as well as a 2.5Ghz Snapdragon 801 SoC, 2GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. There’s also a 12MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, Android 4.4.4, and an 1860mAh battery. The frame is fashioned from metal and the device features the same dimpled plastic back we saw introduced on the Galaxy S5.
