BlackBerry Z30 now available in Canada

Z30

The latest BlackBerry device to join the BB10 family is the Z30. This is the company’s largest smartphone to date, sporting a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. We know for sure, as previously leaked, that the Z30 will be available at Bell and TELUS today. MTS and Rogers will also be making this available to customers.

BlackBerry’s new Z30 has a 1.7 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 2GB RAM, an 8MP rear camera, a 2MP front-facing camera, a 2880mAh non-removable battery. It runs the new BlackBerry OS 10.2, which brings a Priority Hub that categorizes important contacts and conversations into a single location; better copy and paste support; lock screen notifications; and in-app notifications for emails and BBMS.

The Z30 also comes with a few new hardware features, too, namely “BlackBerry Natural Sound.” This is “new technology exclusive to BlackBerry” and enables “BBM Voice and BBM Video chats sound more natural and realistic.” In addition, BlackBerry has embedded its new antenna technology called Paratek that gives faster data transfers and fewer dropped calls in low signal areas.

The prices range from $650 outright to $129 on a 2-year term.

Update: Bell was first to make the Z30 available, but now TELUS has gone live. As expected, the Z30 is $129 on a 2-year contract of $650 outright.

Update – October 16th: TELUS, for an unknown reason, has already price dropped the Z30 1-day after launch by $50 outright. Those who want to buy this will now pay $600.
