Update: iTunes Radio set to launch in Canada by ‘Early 2014’

iTunes

Update: According to a report in Bloomberg today, 2014 is the year that iTunes Radio will hit Canadian soil. “Apple Inc. (AAPL) plans to expand iTunes Radio to English-speaking countries outside the U.S. by early 2014.” – IH

iTunes Radio was a heavily-advertised feature of iOS 7 that didn’t make it to Canada in its first release.

Now, it looks like Canada, along with the United Kingdom, is set to be among the first post-U.S. launch markets. According to a job posting, Apple is looking for two Canadian music programmers to “execute the programming of iTunes Radio in Canada, merchandising new releases and other feature content across multiple radio stations.”

It’s not yet clear when the launch will take place, and whether it will require a new version of iOS to do so, but it’s clear that iTunes Radio is coming to Canada at some point. The service allows users to stream radio stations based on artists or albums; regular users can listen indefinitely with the occasional ad, while iTunes Match customers, who pay $27.99 per year to upload their own music to iCloud, get an ad-free experience.

Listeners can also pick from one of 250 genre stations, which get smarter the more you listen to them.
