Facebook announced a partnership with OpenTable, a platform for online restaurant booking, which will allow users in Canada and the US to reserve tables using the iOS, Android or mobile web.
Navigating to a restaurant’s Facebook page will show, if supported, available times and dates, along with party sizes, for those looking to make a booking. Over 20,000 restaurants are supported in North America at launch, and many more are joining on, says Facebook.
Facebook is also rolling out TV listings for shows in the US, using geolocation to pin precise time zones and relevant networks. While this isn’t launching in Canada at first, it will likely roll out over the coming months.
Both new features will be available through app updates later this week.
