Say hello to a new Nexus 7 (render)

nexus7leak-1

This is the Nexus 7.

We’ve seen leak after leak confirming looks, specs and every other possible asset, but the Nexus 7 2.0 is launching this week for $229 USD in various retail stores and, we assume, on the Google Play Store. evleaks has released an official-looking render that confirms what we’ve previously seen.

The new tablet looks much like the old one, but for the rear camera and slightly squarer body. From the looks of things there is less horizontal bezel, too, taking a page from Apple’s iPad mini. You still have the rear “Nexus” branding, along with a nondescript front, though you’ll be happy to see a pulsing notification light centred below the 1920×1080 LCD screen. From a comparison of similar renders, the new Nexus 7 looks to be taller and narrower than the original.

Indeed, this is to be the Nexus 4 to the original’s Galaxy Nexus: more refined, considerably more powerful, and significantly more desirable. It will be sold in 16GB and 32GB versions, and from the looks of this render, will be sold in both WiFi and cellular configurations. It will, of course, be preloaded with the brand new Android 4.3 software, too.

The Nexus 7 2.0, as we’re calling it until we hear otherwise, is scheduled to be announced this Wednesday, July 23rd, and will go on sale, according to various leaked documents, a week later, Wednesday, July 30th.
