Apple has released a small bug fix update for iPhone and iPad users. iOS 6.0.2 is rolling out now to phones and tablets, promising only one minor change: “Fixes a bug that could impact Wi-Fi.”
iPhone and iPad users have been complaining for months now that their devices have been intermittently posting poor WiFi performance, sometimes dropping connections altogether. I can confirm that this has been an on-and-off problem on both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks, so let’s hope this update nips it in the bud.
Apple has also been making strides in bringing iOS 6.1 to market and it should be available in early 2013.
Users running iOS 6 already can download the OTA update by heading to Settings/General/Software Update, or by plugging in an iDevice while running iTunes.
