Well, you could say more Android users are thrilled to be rocking OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on their device. Over the past 4 weeks Google has reported an increase of 1.3% to bring the total of devices running ICS to 2.9%. Most likely there has been more sales of the Galaxy Nexus or various tablets, namely the ASUS Transformer Prime.
As for the other OS’, March stats showed OS 2.3 Gingerbread at 62%, now increased by 1.3% to 63.7%. Froyo (OS 2.2) has dropped to 23.1%, while Android 1.5 Cupcake is almost MIA with 0.3%. Tablet focussed Honeycomb has once again stayed the same at 3.3%.
The next few months will certainly see a shift from 2.3 to 4.0. Google, various manufacturers and carriers have promised upgrades on several devices to OS 4.0 – some will be happening later this month, then spread out until late July. Progress.
