BlackBerry Playbook OS 2.0 installed on 44% of devices after one week

The BlackBerry Playbook has seen some very impressive adoption number of its OS 2.0, which was offered as a free download on February 21st. Likely due to the immense marketing campaign it received before its release, after one week the Playbook OS 2.0 has been installed on 44% of devices. This is expected to rise to 75% after three weeks if the trend stays true.

According to Chitika, a marketing research firm, the reason for the quick adoption boils down to one thing: a unified release schedule. “PlayBook OS 2.0’s rapid adoption seems to be a testament to how the implementation of automatic updates can support software version integrity. Similar trends can be seen in the web browser release process.”

Playbook OS 2.0 brought lots of improvements, the most significant of which were an improved email client, Android app support and BlackBerry Remote capabilities. You can read our brief review of the Playbook OS 2.o, too.
