One of the most popular (and beautiful) magazine-style news aggregators for the iPad has made its way to the iPhone. Flipboard is one of those apps you didn’t know you needed until you bought an iPad, downloaded it and said, “Wow, this is why I bought this damn tablet.”
The company has spent a lot of time translating the same advanced feature set to a smaller form factor, and for the most part it works quite well. There are some areas in which text is misaligned, or spills over onto a second page after reformatting, but by and large you’re getting a premium reading experience.
One of the more notable additions to the app is something called Cover Stories, which employs algorithms to monitor your reading preferences to choose a selection of high-quality content that you wouldn’t otherwise have thought to seek out.
You can sign in to your Flipboard account and syncronize all your settings and pre-loaded feeds from the iPad version, and exclusive to the iPhone at the moment is Tumblr support for those days when you just need to scroll through some memes.
Flipboard is available, for free, from the iOS App Store.
