HP says “we have decided to produce one last run of TouchPads to meet unfulfilled demand”

People have been in a frenzy ever since HP announced plans to “discontinue operations for webOS devices”, specifically for the TouchPad. This webOS based tablet went on sale with massive discounts, quickly sold out and placed on back order. HP seemed to want to clear all remaining signs of their products and those who were lucky grabbed the 16GB version for $99 and the 32GB version for $149. If you’ve been holding out to get a wanted TouchPad, then HP just might have some good news for you.

On the company blog they stated that “Despite announcing an end to manufacturing webOS hardware, we have decided to produce one last run of TouchPads to meet unfulfilled demand. We don’t know exactly when these units will be available or how many we’ll get, and we can’t promise we’ll have enough for everyone. We do know that it will be at least a few weeks before you can purchase”. Also, in the Q&A section they note that “HP is discontinuing the development of webOS devices and is winding down device operations within our fourth fiscal quarter 2011”.

In the meantime of waiting, you can probably get a TouchPad by this weekend through a seller on eBay.
