Google has updated the stats that shows what Android OS users have when they visit the Android Market. Dated August 1st, OS 2.2 Froyo still has the most usage with 55.9%, down about 6% from the last report. Good news as OS 2.3 Gingerbread has dramatically increased in usage, now total 24.3% (up from 18.6%). As for the tablet focused Android OS 3.0 Honeycomb or higher, this has now gone above the 1% mark for the first time since its creation and hits a 1.3% total. On a spectacular note, users who still have OS 1.5 and 1.6 are kicking around somewhere (HTC Dream and HTC Magic), but are slowly being phased out with now only a mere 3.3%.
Google recently announced they are seeing over 550,000 Android devices activated every day, the Android Market has over 250,000 available apps and has surpassed the 6 billion app download mark.
