The iPhone 5 could be coming with an aluminum back plate, a new antenna and an A5 processor. Those are the latest rumours going around the web and it started from the Chinese Economic Daily News. The report states the reason Apple is going the aluminum route is because of the glass backing breaking, scratching and also apparently painting the white model of the device was an issue (which is why it never made it to market).
The report states “Decision to design similar to iPod touch instead of using glass is supposed that Apple seems to stop problems which are told widely damages from scratching, difficulties of painting white and weight of glass.”
The “Antennagate” debacle caused a flurry of reception issues for Apple and the report also claims that the iPhone 5 will be redesigned with a new placement for the antenna. Because of this new aluminum backing the steel outer frame is gone and the antenna is back inside the device.
All rumours until something is released in June/July. What do you think of the aluminum?
