No official word on how many subscribers Public Mobile has. They recently launched their Unlimited Talk and Text service in both Toronto and Montreal. One of their competitors is the newly created Rogers’ discount brand “Chatr” who started a few weeks ago with a mission to protect their market share and slowly impact/erode the new entrants.
However it seems for Public Mobile the opposite is happening. Their sale are apparently increasing at a staggering rate. Public Mobile’s CFO Jim Hardy was speaking at the BMO Nesbitt Burns’ media and telecom conference and said: “Our sales rates have tripled since Chatr came out… They’re creating awareness for the category [of unlimited talk-and-text plans]”.
