Research firm IDC released a report called Canada’s Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker and for the 9th consecutive quarter Samsung came out on top for mobile shipments. The report states that Samsung shipped 579,900 mobile phones in Q1.
Samsung states the success to the OMNIA II, Galaxy and Galaxy Spica… perhaps they will keep the lead with the introduction of the upcoming Samsung Wave and Galaxy S. Paul Brannen, VP of Samsung Mobile said “Given the extremely competitive mobile handset market in Canada, which rests on relentless innovation, we are extremely pleased to maintain our market share lead. We anticipate the second half of 2010 to be milestone setting as Samsung will be introducing a new fleet of smartphones.”
Here’s the complete list of Canadian manufactures in order of mobile shipments. What’s incredibly surprising is that Sanyo shipped more devices than Palm:
1. Samsung
2. Research In Motion
3. LG
4. Apple
5. Nokia
6. Motorola
7. HTC
8. Sony Ericsson
9. Sanyo
10. Palm
