In Canada we have just over 23 million mobile phone subscribers. Globally in 2009 the number of people with a mobile subscription reach a massive 4.6 billion and it’s only going to increase according to the International Telecommunication Union. They state by the end of 2010 subscriptions will reach 5 billion.
ITU Secretary-General Dr Hamadoun Touré said “Even during an economic crisis, we have seen no drop in the demand for communications services… and I am confident that we will continue to see a rapid uptake in mobile cellular services in particular in 2010, with many more people using their phones to access the internet.”
