Virgin Mobile is back this year with another Valentine’s Day survey. Last year they let us know that 56% of Canadians would rather hold their mobile phone than their partners hand. This year an online survey of 1,014 Canadians was conducted between February 3rd and 4th found that 30% of young Canadians spend more time with their phone and Facebook than their partner.
Other highlights of the survey revealed:
– text messages (10%) rank up there with lingerie or a phone call as the best way to show a loved one you care on Valentine’s Day, beating out e-mails, Facebook gifts or messages and e-cards.
– 33% of tech-savvy Canadians text “Luv u xoxo” on Valentine’s Day. 41% of people in Quebec text “Miss u”. (Have you heard the recent story of a Winnipeg man who had his 2-year relationship end over pre-programmed Virgin text messages like: “Booty call,” “Where u at,” and “Be there soon”)
– Favourite pick up lines on Valentine’s Day is “Something is wrong with my cell phone… your number’s not on it” or “I lost my phone number, can I have yours?”.
