Virgin Mobile said their network saw 225 million text messages sent on New Year’s Eve and 200 million on Christmas day. This coming Chinese New Years will set another record when it comes to text messaging. Ericsson says it will surpass the 18 million mark from last year and are estimating a total of 19 million texts to be sent.
Eva Elmstedt, head of Customer Support at Ericsson said “Now we’re sending more messages every day than there are people in the world… It’s becoming a basic human need today.”
