Remember Lynx mobility? This is the joint venture that is equally owned by an Aboriginal group Naskapi Imuun and OmniGlobe Networks. Well it seems they are expanding and will be holding a ceremony in Quebec on March 12th to celebrate. They are expanding into Kawawachikamach, Schefferville, Matimekush and Lac John.

Lynx Mobility Inc., Canada’s first cellular
service provider co-owned by an Aboriginal partner and dedicated to serving remote communities across
Canada, together with Naskapi Imuun, the local service provider, are pleased to announce that they will
host a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Kawawachikamach, Quebec on Thursday, 12th March 2009. The
ceremony will mark the commercial launch of the cellular service in Kawawachikamach, Schefferville,
Matimekush and Lac John.
Chief Philip Einish, Naskapi Imuun President, will host the event, along with Dr. Jason Neale, President of
Lynx Mobility, and senior company representatives. Acclaimed guests will include Elders and
representatives from First Nation and Inuit communities, as well as members of the federal and provincial
governments.
“This event is the culmination of months of dedication and hard work, and we are delighted to finally have
cellular services introduced into our region.” said Chief Philip Einish. “We are proud to be the first
community that is able to showcase this new and exciting solution.”
