Instant Games for Facebook Messenger is now available

Facebook Instant Games on Messenger

Instant Games for Facebook Messenger have begun to roll out to all users today, the social media giant has announced.

This means that the 1.2 billion people who use Facebook Messenger will be able to play games through their phones or computers, without the need to install additional apps.

The service previously launched in beta form in November with 17 available games, including classics like Pac-Man and Galaga.

With this new update, there are over 50 games available in certain territories, Canada included.

Users can access the games on desktop through the controller icon underneath ‘type a message…’ or on mobile by pressing the plus icon and selecting ‘Games.’

For their part, game makers can also add in-app leaderboards in tournaments to further challenge players.

Instant Games is part of Facebook’s larger suite of changes that it detailed back earlier this month at its F8 conference, including AI and bot support.
