MobileSyrup 2025 holiday gift guide

A big battery or an Instax camera are always good gift options

The holidays (and Black Friday) are right around the bend, so we’ve put together a list of gear and gadgets that we think anyone would be happy to get or give as a gift this season.

We’ve included everything from video games and movies to gadgets to make sure there’s something on the list for everyone.

Roborock Q7 L5+ Robot Vacuum and Mop with Auto-Empty Dock*

Nothing makes people happier than a clean house, and the new Roborock Q7 L5+ has 8000 Pa for suction for deep cleaning of every floor, including carpets. This model also uses LiDAR to map your home to make sure that it creating a solid map of your home to make sure it can intelligently navigate. It also comes with an auto-empty base station and an app that provides lots of custom cleaning options.

This model is usually $249, but it’s on sale right now for $129.

Instax mini LiPlay+

This new Instax camera is packed with fun photography features like stacking images or recording sounds, but the best feature is that this camera also works as a printer, letting you print photos from your smartphone. It might not be the thing people use it for the most, but it’s really handy being able to turn your favourite memories, no matter where they’re shot, into physical memories.

This camera also has one of the nicest designs from an Instax, which helps soften its $279 price tag.

Logitech MX Vertical

We’re all getting older, and as we get older, even things like using a computer mouse all day can become painful. That said, switching over to a larger vertical mouse can do a lot for wrist pain. One of our favourite options is the Logitech MX Vertical since it’s got a great build quality and a few extra buttons that make it a lot more versatile than a regular mouse.

If you’re a gamer, Razer makes a great one too, but for most, the $149 Logitech option will be the best bet.

MacBook Air

If you need a new computer, the MacBook Air has been a hit for years, but the M4 version from earlier this year is a powerhouse. That said, most people will also be fine with an M2 or M3 chip as well. However, if you are looking at an older model, you’re going to want to make sure it has 16GB of RAM, as the new M4-equipped computers do. Adding some extra storage will always be helpful too, but that usually raises the cost.

If you’re looking for a good deal, Apple often discounts the laptops on its refurbished website. Usually, the M4 Air retails for $1,400 in Canada.

Anker Solix C1000 portable battery

I’ve tested a lot of batteries over the past two years, and the ones I’ve ended up using the most outside of the testing phase are the 1000Wh models. They often hit the right size/weight ratio that I need for camping. Even then, it’s still a little big for the phones and LED lights I’m recharging, but I like having the extra juice just in case. This new Anker model is actually one of the smaller 1000Wh models, making it one of the most portable in its class.

These usually retail for $1,119, but they’re on sale for $578 over the Black Friday shopping event.

Baby Steps

Sometimes games just need to be a fun challenge, and that’s what Bennett Foddy usually does with his titles. Known for the flash game QWOP that dominated the internet almost twenty years ago, he’s returned with a new game called Baby Steps where you once again need to control the minutiae of walking. It’s a ton of fun with lots of challenge, and a great game to play pass-a-controller style with a friend.

You can pick it up on PlayStation 5 or Windows for $26 in Canada.

Apple Watch SE 3

For a few years, the Apple Watch SE has lagged behind its brethren, but this year, the dynamic changed, and Apple added a ton of features to the lower-cost watch. It might not have the most up-to-date health features like the hypertension notifier, but for anyone looking for a smartwatch/fitness tracker, the SE 3 is an unbeatable deal.

The new Apple Watch SE 3 starts at $329 in Canada.

If you spend a lot of time in transit or just want to watch things more privately, a pair of glasses like this lets you have a big screen right in front of your face.
