Rogers has started charging $25 for standard shipping when customers order a phone online.
A MobileSyrup reader spotted the new fee during the checkout process and flagged it with us. When looking at any smartphone on Rogers’ website, the fee is highlighted in the ‘Things to know’ segment. The same fee also appears on the Fido website.
Notably, the new fee arrived just as Rogers opened pre-orders for the new iPhone 16 devices, though the shipping fee applies to all phones, not just the iPhones. Per comments in the Rogers subreddit from understandably upset customers, it seems like the new shipping fee came into effect on September 11th or 12th. Also of note, Rogers charges a $70 connection fee but waives that fee for customers who order online.
MobileSyrup reached out to Rogers about the new shipping fee, but Rogers did not respond before publication.
At the time of writing, both Bell and Telus still offered free shipping for devices ordered online. But as so often happens among the Big Three, when one makes a change, the others follow (for example, Telus recently followed Rogers in raising connection fees to $70 despite those fees now being prohibited by the Telecommunications Act).
Still, for the time being, you can order phones from Bell and Telus without paying for shipping.
Thanks Harmandeep!
