Apple’s latest and greatest iPhones are up for pre-orders now.
If you want to read about the new iPhones you can check out my hands-on experience here. However, the main improvements across the board to all new phones are stronger glass, better battery life and a new button on the right side called Camera Control that lets you do a bunch of cool camera tricks.
All the iPhones this year also have the Action Button, and support for Apple Intelligence AI features. However, these won’t roll out for a bit, with the first wave hitting in early preview sometime in October with iOS 18.1.
If you pre-order the phones, they will arrive ideally on September 20th, but sometimes if there are lots of pre-orders, dates can slide back. As of the time of writing, iPhone 16 Pro units have slipped back to the first week of October.
Apple also accepts trade-ins of old phones, and that can range from $50 to $905 depending on what model you have to trade and what condition it’s in.

Sometimes the best deal is getting an iPhone from the previous year. If you’re upgrading from a really old iPhone like the 8, X, XR or 11, all of the phones below (except for the SE) should feel like a significant upgrade.
