Sony pushes further into PC market with new PlayStation Accessories app

This app makes the DualSense Edge a lot more appealing to PC gamers

Sony is rolling out a new ‘PlayStation Accessories’ app for PC, making it easier for gamers to use PlayStation gear on a computer.

The Accessories app replaces the older ‘Firmware updater for DualSense wireless controller’ program that PC players needed to use previously to update the DualSense controller. Beyond updating, the new app also allows PC users to customize the high-end DualSense Edge controller the same way they would on PS5. Sadly, you can’t do anything except update the regular DualSense.

The app also lets you check your controller’s battery level and connect multiple controllers, but beyond that, it’s pretty barebones for now. I expect Sony to also start using this app for other things, like its VR headset and gaming headphones, in the future.

Ideally, I’d love it if Sony allowed PC users to customize the regular DualSense. I don’t need much, but the ability to remap buttons to make it easier for old games would be handy. That being said, I recently started using a PS5 controller more with my PC and iPhone, and the DualSense has surprised me with how good it feels. However, the thing I like about it the most is how easily it connects to my phone. I always need to forget and re-connect Xbox controllers, but the DualSense remembers my phone and connects automatically.
