Videotron’s value brand Fizz is now offering mobile phones across Canada for both new and existing customers.
Fizz says it’s doing things differently by offering discounts on mobile rates based on which phone people select. For example, the Fizz website shows a 60 percent plan discount with the purchase of a Pixel 8. These discounts last for 24 months and Fizz says they can transfer from plan to plan, so if you change your plan after getting a phone, you’ll keep your discount.
Fizz also isn’t offering fixed-term contracts and says it has both new and refurbished phones available.
Looking at Fizz’s phone options, it looks like the provider is simply just selling the phones either outright or with 0% financing through Affirm, which divides the cost of the phone over 24 months. And unlike other Canadian carriers, it looks like Fizz isn’t artificially inflating the cost of phones. Regardless of whether you buy outright or via financing, you still get the 24-month discount on your plan.
Fizz has a variety of phones available on its website, including devices from Apple, Samsung, Google, and Motorola. It looks like there’s a ton of choice and coupled with the included discount on your plan, it seems like Fizz might actually be worth considering if you want a phone. If nothing else, the fact you can buy a phone outright from Fizz and get a discount on your monthly bill is worth considering.
