The OnePlus 6 will soon be available in a new ‘Red’ colour, OnePlus announced on Monday.
OnePlus co-founder and CEO Pete Lau detailed the new model on the company’s official community forums.
“After the success of the OnePlus 5T Lava Red, we decided to produce a red edition worthy of the OnePlus 6,” he wrote. “Deciding on this color was not without its challenges. We see individual colors as a way to express certain feelings or ideas. To us, red exudes enthusiasm and personality. It also represents an inner confidence and courage. There is a kind of power in red, which the OnePlus logo has always tried to articulate.”
According to OnePlus, the new finish features six glass panels, as well as an anti-reflective layer. The company says it also added a translucent orange layer to the finish to give the final colour its vibrant shine. If you’ve ever seen a Product Red iPhone in-person, then you’ll have a pretty good idea of what to expect with this new colour. While it hasn’t unseated the Silk White model as my favourite OP6, the new red model is striking.
Canadian consumers can order the OnePlus 6 in red starting on July 10th at 10am ET / 7 am PT. Like the ‘Midnight Black’ and ‘Silk White’ colour variants, the red colour is available when customers upgrade to the $769 model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
OnePlus also announced on Monday it will have new stock of the Bullets Wireless to sell on July 10th. The company sold through all of its initial stock of the Wireless Bullets shortly after they went on sale alongside the OnePlus 6.
