Instagram has announced a suite of new rainbow-themed features to coincide with Pride Month celebrations throughout June.
To start, Instagram will be rolling out a rainbow version of its signature gradient, while stories will get a new rainbow background in Type mode and rainbow versions of mention, hashtag and location stickers.
Viewers taking part in a Live video can also tap the heart to see different colours of the Pride rainbow, while holding down the button will send a shower of rainbow hearts to the host and other viewers.
Finally, Instagram says it has worked with GLAAD to identify hashtags that the LGBTQ+ community are most likely to use to connect with one another. During Pride Month, a rainbow gradient will appear on those hashtags to make them more eye-catching and encourage users to discover more photos and videos from the community.
The Pride update is now available on Android as part of Instagram version 47, with an iOS rollout set for “the coming weeks.”
