National telecom Rogers Wireless has announced that it’s expanding its network in Manitoba.
Manitobans can now access Rogers’ LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network in communities including Winnipeg, Brandon, Portage La Prairie, Selkirk, Steinbach, Gimli, Morden, Winkler, Churchill, Thompson and Flin Flon.
The company also announced that it has improved its coverage so that subscribers accessing the network in “hard-to-reach” areas like basements, elevators and building with “thick concrete walls” will be able to receive a signal.
Subscribers will also be able to utilize Voice over LTE (VoLTE) for high definition voice calling.
“With LTE-A, [Manitobans] can connect with erven more of what they love, whehter it’s watching the Jets on Rogers NHL Live, using maps to get to a fall community supper or staying in touch with friends and family on social media,” said Colin Bartlett, Prairies regional leader for Rogers, in an October 23rd, 2017 media release.
Rogers has been working on improving its network in Manitoba for a while. In September 2017, the carrier announced that it had improved coverage in downtown Winnipeg, as well as in Sage Creek.
