Drone Delivery Canada, UofT and DRDC partner to move past GPS and develop a vision-based navigation solution

Drone Delivery Canada (DDC) today announced a new partnership with the University of Toronto and Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC). Together, the three organizations plan to work on a solution that allows UAVs to navigate using a vision-based solution, instead of GPS.

“We are working on this next generation BVLOS (beyond visual line of sight) drone technology with some of Canada’s smartest minds”, commented Paul Di Benedetto, CTO of Drone Delivery Canada. “This collaboration will greatly accelerate our development of vision-based navigation technology for our FLYTE software management and auto-pilot systems required for commercialization.”

DDC says this will bring agreement will be a “significant step closer to commercialization.” The company previously announced with Staples and Napa Auto Parts.
