While it’s not the relief most iPhone 6 Plus owners were likely hoping for, Apple has announced that it will repair iPhone 6 Plus models that exhibit touch input issues and screen flicker, for $189.
Colloquially, the problem is affectionally known as ‘touch disease.’ The issue, according to some reports, is fairly widespread, particularly among iPhone 6 Plus units. A class action lawsuit relating to the issue was recently launched in Canada.
Previously, out of warranty iPhone owners had to pay more than $300 to get the problem resolved at an Apple Store.
“Apple has determined that some iPhone 6 Plus devices may exhibit display flickering or Multi-Touch issues after being dropped multiple times on a hard surface and then incurring further stress on the device,” says the company on a newly launched support page on its website.
“If your iPhone 6 Plus is exhibiting the symptoms noted above, is in working order, and the screen is not cracked or broken, Apple will repair your device for a service price of CA$189.”
