Microsoft removes Band listings from its store, says not to expect a 2016 release

Bad news for fans of the Microsoft Band: it looks like the line’s days might be numbered.

According to ZDNet writer Mary Jo Foley, a cached version of Microsoft’s online store from October 2nd shows Band devices, while today’s version of the website has no references to them at all.

Additionally, the Band software development kit has been removed, though this makes sense considering Microsoft is no longer selling the Band 2. Foley notes that the company is also believed to have disbanded the internal team that was working towards bringing Windows 10 to the band.

All this points towards the end of the line, and Foley says she’s essentially heard as much from her internal sources, who have stated the Band 3 won’t roll out anytime soon or perhaps ever.

While the company didn’t comment on the changes to its website, it provided a statement to ZDNet, writing: “We have sold through our existing Band 2 inventory and have no plans to release another Band device this year. We remain committed to supporting our Microsoft Band 2 customers through Microsoft Stores and our customer support channels and will continue to invest in the Microsoft Health platform, which is open to all hardware and apps partners across Windows, iOS, and Android devices.”
